WOKE & ENTITLED World We Need To Change.

It seems to me the world today has become a society where common sense and self respect and respect for others is at a very low ebb indeed. Due to the PC brigade and the loony left bringing up this generation who believe they're entitled to everything without earning it for themselves.
Jaguar XK Restoration Interior Trim & Door Cards

Luckily we found some chrome trim tabs so i could fit the chrome tops to the door cards. Unfortunately i have to order the door clips to attach the card to the door frame. Hopefully i can have all the paperwork completed and on the road by March 2025 as a 70th birthday present to myself.

This video is a little longer than normal but there was a lot to pack in to the final update of the Mini. I have no hesitation in saying the labour bill would have been double in a commercial workshop. I very much enjoyed taking this mini from what it was after the accident to what it is Now. A great little fun car that just puts a smile on your face each time you get in and drive it.

Hee hee, I like this one. If a bike gets stolen...nobody cares, certainly not the police. They taxed/fee'd/licensed scooters a few years back. The years that followed saw fewer and fewer scooters. All those commuters now are back in cars. We have really bad traffic in this area due to bad drivers who don't want to be driving in the first place. Pogo sticks, skateboards, roller blades, zip lines....I'm all for it..whatever just get the people who don't really want to drive cars, riding something else and then there will be less traffic for all of us I hope they don't come after my bikes....My thinking is they are still harping on second hand smoke and mold or something....I still have time, I just want to jump on my old Schwinn, no helmet, no gloves, just t shirt and some yard sale shoes and be on my way. I made a video about the car inspection in this state some time back. What a racket. Not as restricted as the Austrian non modification rules...but still...I don't believe we need to inspect cars the way we check airplanes. Florida has no state inspection and cars don't blow up. I took my car to another state and passed the state's annual inspection once, then again a year later...and now a third time......I never made any of the trumped up repairs that first state said I needed. ( Just an update...the scooters have gone only to give way to guys on stolen dirt bikes. They ride the streets doing wheelies and the police are helpless. It shows the rest of us that we will get hammered for a taillight that broke while we were working, while these guys living on the dole riding a wheelie on what was your neighbor's four wheeler have dicklamatic immunity ). President Oba put fees and taxes on the bullets...very clever back door approach to accomplish what he wanted. Ironically...some of my bikes are called Bullitts. ( Which have speed restrictions in the EU ) Fun video

Unfortunately, a few miles away from where I live, things go out of hand between a driver and 2 e-scooter riders = Driver to face murder for one and manslaughter for the other rider. just shows how dangerous and un-governed society is with poor decision making and more so repercussions for poor decisions

5:22 I think the minimum cyclists should have is insurance. Personally I'm bothered a bout car tax (VED...Vehicle Excise duty in the UK) as the majority of them probably own a car so they do contribute to the roads, but I it should be mandatory for them to have insurance at the minimum. I saw a video the other day where an E Cyclist in London had run into the back of someones car, smashing the rear window and damaging the tailgate and yes you guessed it, he got up and rode off! Has for electric cars, they should pay car tax, especially when alot of them weight wise are pushing 3 ton.

Paul, The EV exemptions are slowly but surely being removed and rightly so. As you say the weight alone of an EV should put them in the top tier of VED. The problem with cycle premiums is they're so low, insurance companies normally will only deal with bulk purchases through clubs etc. If you make it mandatory then you'll have to pay the police extra to enforce it, likely your mandatory insurance system will cost taxpayers more than it costs cyclists.

Where I live in Arizona the bike lanes are a line painted on the road and cars are not meant to go into it, my biggest bug bear is that cyclists use that lane and cycle towards the traffic when they should be going in the same direction , they even painted arrows to show the cyclists how to use it, the plus is they are easy to hit unlike your lanes where you have to go across the grass to get to them. Isn't one of the major benefits of using a bike to get exercise and save the planet, if your dumb enough to have an electric bike you have defeated it's purposes.

@@ClassicCarCave the title of your last video was "cyclists should pay for roads use". Car drivers pay through taxes so you're obviously implying cyclists should pay a tax also, don't know why you're claiming otherwise now. Every country that has had a system of registering bikes has abandoned it, simply costs more to manage than it returns in positive outcomes. Insurance is a similar story, for a car you pay a few hundred a year to cover the damage you might do with something weighing a ton and a half and can go 100mph. How much for something that weighs a few kg and rarely doing more than 20mph? It's in the region of €10 a year but you can't buy it direct, insurers don't want to deal with such tiny premiums. I used to get insurance as part of my €17 a year club membership fee, I now get it free with a magazine subscription. Somewhere else you mentioned moral high ground, just on road deaths and injuries cyclists have it in spades. Motor accident is number 1 cause of death in the under 40s, every day you choose to drive you massively increase the odds that you'll be the reason someone dies that day (disproportionately children). Cyclists on the other hand are responsible for fewer deaths than lightening strikes!

This sounds an awful lot like I don't like cyclists because I drive a car. How much wear and tear is done to a road by cyclists when compared to motor vehicles? How much greater is the production of emissions from motor vehicles compared to cyclists? How many cyclists cause huge incidents on the highway requiring police, paramedic and police assistance. How many pedestrians and cyclists are knocked down every day by idiotic drivers who think that the road is theirs because it is nice and straight?

I disagree that cyclists should be paying for road use. A number of countries and administrative areas have had bicycle registration/licensing schemes in the past and have retired them. I invite you to check why these have failed to understand why this is a bad idea. The City of Toronto required bicycles be licensed from 1935 to 1957. According to a City of Toronto web page on the topic of bicycle licensing part of the reason given at the time for repealing the by-law was "because it often results in an unconscious contravention of the law at a very tender age; they also emphasize the resulting poor public relations between police officers and children." In the intervening years the idea of licensing bicycles again in Toronto has been investigated three times (in 1984, 1992, and 1996) and rejected each time. According to the city the major reasons why are: * The difficulty in keeping a database complete and current * The difficulty in licensing children, given that they ride bikes too * Licensing in and of itself does not change the behaviour of cyclists who are disobeying traffic laws The web page goes on to give more detail on these and other issues: Cost The cost of obtaining a license to drive a motor vehicle is considerable. Much of that cost covers the administrative costs of maintaining an accurate database, and processing licenses. The costs of developing a system for cyclists would be similar. When asked to consider such a move in the past, the Ministry of Transportation has rejected it. If cyclists were asked to cover the cost of licensing, in many cases, the license would be more expensive than the bicycle itself. Enforcement The discussions about cyclists and the law have raised the question about how we want our police to spend their time and limited resources. Do we want them checking up on and enforcing licenses, or do we want them enforcing traffic laws? Most people would argue that enforcing traffic laws is more worthwhile. Police who have been involved in the studies of licensing have determined that the HTA already gives them the necessary tools, such as Section 218, to do the enforcement job. Effectiveness In each of the above cases, major problems and difficulties arise in establishing a licensing system. The studies asked what is the goal that licensing cyclists is attempting to achieve? If the goal is to increase cyclists' compliance with traffic laws, and to reduce the number of conflicts with pedestrians and other road users, then licensing as an approach needs to be compared with other possible initiatives. Is the creation of the major bureaucracy that licensing would require worth it? The studies have concluded that licensing is not worth it. Other solutions: blitz enforcement of rules on riding on sidewalks, public awareness campaigns, skills training through CAN-BIKE, and the provision of bicycle-friendly facilities, such as bike lanes, while not perfect, are more effective in meeting the goals of cyclist compliance with traffic laws than the investment in licensing. Public policy considerations Concerns over cyclist compliance with traffic laws are real, and require ongoing attention. If, however, major investments are to be made by governments or by cyclists themselves, then the overall public policy goals behind that investment need to be addressed. For example, there is a strong public policy case to be made for licensing motor vehicle drivers. Hundreds of lives are lost each year because of motor vehicle crashes and collisions, and many thousands more are injured. Cyclists are involved in a smaller number of incidents, which must be addressed. However, given the benefits of cycling to health, the environment, and the community, on-going efforts to increase cycling compliance with traffic laws must be a part of an overall strategy to promote safe cycling. I agree with your points regarding poorly planned cycle paths. Cycling advocacy groups in some areas are working hard to correct stupidity at the planning stage. I have no idea why that couple were not both in the cycle path. Reasons for me not to use one are broken glass/debris recently encountered, poor surface, making a turn soon, or in the case of mixed-use paths, too many meandering pedestrians/joggers wearing headphones causing a safety hazard.

Why? Roads are funded by general taxation, and we all pay for the roads whether we use them or not. Most cycle lanes aren't maintained and are also badly designed. Cyclists don't have to use a cycle lane, so no grey area whatsoever. Motornormativity in action. Cars damage roads, Cyclists don't.

  • @michaelatkinson7577

How about simply putting all vehicle related taxation on fuel and ditch VED. Those who drive the most, pay as they drive, and the more efficient their vehicles are, the less they pay, and the less miles driven - the less they pay. The collection system is already there (fuel duty at the pump) and we can reduce the admin burden VED offers. Cyclists, pedestrians, horses and all road users would of course pay based upon fuel use and mileage covered. So many benefits and savings, Your are welcome.
